6th Form | Attendance & Punctuality
Attendance and Punctuality is monitored on a lesson-by lesson, daily, weekly and termly basis by the Attendance Officer, 6th Form Tutors and the Head of 6th Form. Students must aim to have above 95.5% attendance in order to be successful in their studies.
Student Attendance Procedure
At TLA, all 6th Form lessons are compulsory as well as daily Tutor Time. If lessons are missed, then an absence note/email/phone call must be handed in to the 6th Form Tutor or Attendance Officer. Failure to do this will mean the absence will be marked as unauthorised.
The only people who can authorise absence are parent/guardians/carers. They can inform the Academy in advance of absence in the following ways:
- Email: Attendance@langleyacademy.org
- Phone number: 01753 214 475
- A written letter/note is also accepted after the student has returned to the Academy
We will not authorise absence based on a student email or phone call.
Daily Attendance
All students must sign in when first arriving into the Academy.
Students must be in the Academy in time for their first lesson of the day and are allowed to leave the site once their final lesson of the day has finished. When a student leaves the site they must sign in and out.
If a student has a study period during the day they are allowed to leave the Academy site as long as they follow the signing in and signing out procedure. Students must remember that they are representing The Langley Academy at all times when they are in the local community and should act accordingly.
The Attendance Officer will complete a ‘group call’ for all those students not in lessons.
Punctuality
Students must arrive to all lessons on time. Subject teachers will record when a student has not arrived to lesson on time. Persistent tardiness will result in a student losing 6thForm privileges.
